Family business Display Equipment Company based in Bolton became converts to Xero cloud accounting in May 2015 and now say they, looking back, that can’t understand how they ever managed to do their accounts manually.
Andrea Holmes who is the daughter-in law of owners Les and Joan Holmes, handles the accounts and says that since moving to the cloud the amount of time saved working on the finances has been incredible. She explains:
“It is so easy to use, and the fact that you can log in any place, any time is very convenient. I do sometimes log in at home to update something but the fact is that I spend much less time pouring over the books now than I ever did, it’s brilliant.”
The firm has been in businesses for over 65 years and they have been loyal clients of DonnellyBentley (and formerly Bentleys Chartered Accountants) since they founded two generations ago. For many years Andrea did manual accounts before a period using Sage. Accountant Alison Leech, suggested that Xero Online Accounting software could be useful to them and Andrea was persuaded to give it a go.
With the help of some one to one training from Alison, Andrea was soon up and running and finding it very easy to manage all the businesses accounting requirements. She continues:
“We have six employees and I use the system to manage our payroll. It is literally done in two clicks, the system emails the employee wage slips out and it’s all done in no time.“
Another added benefit is that other members of the management team can easily access the accounts at any time too. Mother-in Law Joan, is approaching her 75th birthday and has learned to use the system with ease alongside Andrea.
